how did you apply the half tones? was it like a ps filter or did you do it manually, love it either way tho

Trebuxet responds:

Addtional cliped layer over the "line" layer in "Lighten" mode.

love the half tones :P

NSMP responds:

Cheers :p

do you use a specific palat for flesh tones, or do you just eyeball it every time? because thats very nice work

oh man thats beautiful, how long did you spend on that? i love it.

So much work went into the face for the image to fall flat on the body, you should try to have a more balanced piece

ROGUEKELSEY responds:

Thank you for the constructive feedback! I'll plan on studying anatomy/clothes a lot more.

i disagree the monotoned look dosent make it seem flat, it gives it a very chilling feel that just works for this kind of art, i verymuch enjoy what you did here, i would suggest cleaning up some of the line work here and there but overall you did great.

love the water color very masterfully done

HienKBull responds:

Thanks! :3

screw you man i wanted to have a chance, and then you do something like this, i dont have the materials to pull off something like that Xo

Shiguchi responds:

Everyone has a chance, as for me i was never been even a finalist in any competition i attempted.
You also got an epic profile pic =D

not bad drawing technique but this is very monochramatic, you need more skin highlights and darks, and that blur mixed with face glow adds to a sence of 2d id say never add blur like that, if you want to make the center the focus, than try using highlights and the background to get there, also do more face studies, if you think it looks awkward that is because, the hair suggests that the face is tilted twords the viewer and looking away, but then the face is tilted straight to the left side by the mouth but somehow the other eyebrow is comming through too, its good work just little details that cause the viewer to become seperated from the effort put in, im by no means a pro, but i fugured the second oppinion could help

Bringz responds:

Yeah it was monochromatic...is your comment meant to speak to the value range and not the use of a single hue?
I didn't use a blur tool, I just chose not to render every detail.
I do these as timed challenges on a single layer so not everything gets as much attention as it needs.
As for the more head studies, that is literally my entire gallery.
I am not sure why if you can see multiple planes of the philtrum the other brow wouldn't be partially visible.
The values on the jaw need work to provide consistency to the read angle though.

Photo realism isn't always the goal.
Putting in the work and enjoying the process is what matters to me.
If you like it, cool. If not keep looking until find something you do like and enjoy it.

Do me a favor and have the best night of your life though.

its not bad just kindof hard to look at, you should try lowering the brightness of everything besides what is the focus, look up, the rule of thirds, this is a way to get something more visualy appealing, any you could have done it very easiley to this with no ill effects
